Creatures

ladybug.jpg

Tortoise: Tommy the tortoise

Following the example of Picasso, I have made animals out of commonly found objects.  The praying mantises have electric razor blade heads, the python is a large coil, the lady bug is  a soccer ball, and the tortoise is a large gymnastic ball and pipe insulation.

Praying Mantises: Fred and Ginger; when the male approaches the female he does so cautiously and with a dance to entice her.  Once mating is complete he leaves cautiously, but usually she snips his head off and eats him.  This gives her energy to give birth.

Snake: A python

Ladybugs: Mum and baby

Model: Silvertown

I take many pills.  Every weekI I was throwing away many empty pill casings made of plastic plastic with a silver background that .  I decided that I must find an artistic use for these objects.  Somehow to me they looked like blocks of houses seen from a distance.  This was how I conceived of the model of Silvertown.  I added silver foil from the many chocolate bars I consume as well as the golden cardboard in the packaging of the smoked salmon I consume.  This all led me to make the model of Silvertown, that I present here.
